The external switches we supply with the adapted toys are purchased for the disability aids magazines. We can usually find a switch that ‘matches’ the child’s needs. The switch categories are:

There is NO NEED for you to return the SWITCHES every time you return the toys , unless unsuitable or faulty

  • Steps’ staff will guide you through the switch selection, if you wish
  • We routinely stock most of the popular switches found in the disability catalogues. The switches are single action switches.
  • We keep smaller stocks of the more expensive less requested switches, but we will order a switch for the child if we do not stock it. This procedure can take a while, as the manufacturers can be pretty slow!
  • All of Steps switches work all of Steps adapted toys. You will find that the jack leads on the toys have a male plug, consequently only our switches will work the toys without an adaptor (we do stock adapters if you should want to use additional non-Steps switches).
  • If you should wish to use your own equipment in conjunction with that of Steps, please feel free to do so providing that no damage is done to Steps switches.
  • The switches adhere to all required safety regulations but Steps recommends that no child should be left unsupervised whilst using Steps play equipment.
Steps admits no liability for accidental injury to the child whilst playing with Steps equipment.
